The Winkelmann Group had previously been operating its entire IT infrastructure at in-house data centers. As a result, it was not always possible to securely exchange data or for international colleagues to collaborate, especially due to many of the company’s offices being located outside of Germany. This also made it necessary to coordinate times for maintenance windows for critical services such as Microsoft Exchange.

The Winkelmann Group therefore decided to make Microsoft Office 365 its main collaboration platform. As part of the process, a highly available ADSF farm with Web application proxy (WAP) servers for single sign-on and an Exchange hybrid solution was set up to facilitate the migration of Exchange inboxes between Exchange Online and on-premises.

To promote greater collaboration among employees, users now have Skype for Business Online, OneDrive for Business Online, and Microsoft Teams available to them. COMPAREX fully supported the Winkelmann Group in planning, implementing, and transitioning to Office 365.

  • Winkelmann Group employees are now able to communicate more easily with one another and access shared data worldwide.
  • And thanks to Microsoft Azure AD conditional access, only trusted, managed devices can access data in Office 365, thus further improving security.
  • In addition, the local Active Directory is now being monitored for potential security breaches via Microsoft Advanced Threat Analytics (ATA).
