Office Online From Anywhere

The clinical center Fürth is a tertiary-care facility and an academic teaching hospital at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. 17 clinics, departments and institutes, almost 800 beds and a workforce of around 2,500 people make this communal enterprise for people from the city and region of Fürth a comprehensive contact partner for just about every health-related question. More than 100,000 patients are treated here every year. With roots going back to the year 1441 and residing at its current location since 1931, Klinikum Fürth has continued growing and modernizing over the years.

Services Provided: Planning, installation and configuration of a new Microsoft Exchange Server hybrid infrastructure with provision of Office 365 ProPlus and use of the eperi Security Gateway encryption solution.

The primary goal of the Klinikum Fürth's actions was to replace all the existing Novell GroupWise systems and services with current Microsoft-based technologies. Secondly, the majority of employees needed an e-mail application for their day-to-day work. Finally, staff should be able to access their work e-mail securely while on the go or at home.

In the frame of COMPAREX’s consultancy, the clinic's management chose to establish Exchange Online as the main system for communication. Office 365 ProPlus also were made available on clients, where it serves around a third of users as a standardized, locally installed application for MS Word, Excel and Outlook.

The majority of employees, who needed an e-mail app only, were provided with the Outlook web app as part of Office Online. Azure Directory Federation Services were implemented to enable the employees to be authenticated automatically in the Outlook web or Office ProPlus application with their respective user account.

Finally, to secure all data in the cloud, COMPAREX implemented the highly effective solution from eperi.
